Savard, Louis naquit à Saint-Félicien, région du Lac Saint-Jean, province de Québec, Canada, le 2 mai 1884, fils de Joseph Savard et de Séraphine Simard. Il alla à l’école élémentaire quatre mois et dans le temps dans la région, cette somme d’école étaitconsidérée fort suffisante. Il commença de suite à travailler sur la terre de son père à Saint-Félicien. Il y resta jusqu’à l’âge de 21 ans alors qu’il vint demeurer à Berlin, N.H. Il ne savait pas un mot d’anglais, mais il trouva quand même un emploi dans une usine ou l’on manufacturait du papier. Actif, laborieux et honnête, il gagna vite la confiance de ses chefs et il y a trente-cinq ans il devint préposé aux réparations de l’usine. Depuis ce temps il a toujours gardé la même position sauf que son autorité a constamment augmenté. Le premier juin 1908 il épousa mademoiselle Léa Hébert. De ce mariage sont nés : Arthur qui pendant la guerre se distingua dans l’armée au Japon, Henri qui travaille à l’usine avec son père, William qui est aujourd’hui gérant de la Compagnie Endicott-Johnson à Rumford, Maine, Irène (Robichaud), Yvonne (Cartier), Léo qui fait actuellement du service militaire en Allemagne, Thérèse travaille avec son père, Lucille et Pauline qui fréquentent les écoles Notre-Dame. Monsieur Savard fait partie de la société des Artisans Canadiens-Français, Des Moose, Des Eagles, est vice-président de la Caisse Populaire depuis 1931 et fait partie de la Ligue du Sacré-Cœur de sa paroisse. Sa Résidence est au numéro 299 rue Grafton.

Louis Savard was born in Saint-Félicien, Lake St-John, province of Québec, Canada on May 2nd, 1884, the son of Joseph Savard and Séraphine Simard.  He attended elementary school for four months.  At that period of time in this region, this small amount of schooling was considered more than sufficient.  He worked on his father’s farm until the age of 21 and then moved to Berlin, New Hampshire.  Although he didn’t know a word of English, he nonetheless found employment at the Brown Company paper factory.  Active, hard working and honest, he quickly earned the confidence of his supervisors and when he turned thirty five, he became involved in the maintenance of the equipment in the mill.  He has since maintained this same position while constantly being given more responsibility.  In 1908, he marries Léa Hébert.  From this marriage are born:  Arthur, who during the war has distinguished himself in the army in Japan, Henri who works at the paper mill with his father, William who is manager of the Endicott-Johnson shoe store in Rumford, Maine, Irene (robichaud), Yvonne (Cartier), Leo who is serving in the military in Germany, Therese who works with her father, and Lucille and Pauline who attend Notre-Dame high school.  Mister Savard is a member of the Artisans Canadien-Français society, the order of Moose, the Eagles and vice-president of the Caisse Populaire (Credit Union) since 1931 and is also a member of the Sacred-Heart society of his parish (Ange Gardien).  He resides at 299 Grafton Street.
