Jean Savart – Marguerite Thubye
Jean Savart, the oldest currently known ancestor of the Canadian Savard lineage, is a cartwright. The name of his father is not known at this time, but hopefully the ongoing research will reveal it.
The Savarts were numerous in Montreuil in the time of Jean. In fact, one counts at least eight Jean Savarts in the region of Montreuil in this period. We find some Savarts in Montreuil, in Vincennes and in all of the East Parisian region since at least the beginning of the fifteenth century, more than 150 years before the birth or our ancestor Jean.
There are a few incomplete periods in the recording of baptisms, one of which is around the date of birth of Jean’s wife, Marguerite Thubye. Therefore, the exact birth date of Marguerite is not known, but several brothers and sisters are known by acts of successions. There doesn’t seem to be any doubt that Marguerite is the daughter of Nicolas Thubye and Marguerite Beausse based on some of the births found of this couple that coincide perfectly with Marguerite’s known brothers and sisters. Also, Nicolas is the first of the name in Montreuil, and the name continues from him.
The Savart-Thubye couple was married around 1590-1593. The first mention found of the couple is in fact their son Simon’s birth.
